I can not believe we pulled this thing off. There was a lot that could go wrong, but didn't. The trail was cleared for every race (merely minutes before the last race thanks to John P), only one race had to be postponed due to rain, no one sustained any major injuries, and everyone had an absolute blast. We started out with 10 people at the first race and the line up increased every Thursday.

Well I think we got the Canal Singletrack pretty well dialed in for the Canal Crown. Kim, Dustin, Joe, and myself met up at the trail early Sunday morning for some last minute preparations. Thanks to SORBA-CSRA, we were able to borrow the trailer and use some of their arsenal. A lot of trees had fallen on the Canal trail due to the high winds and severe storms. Some of the trees were rideable (kinda), some not so much. After 5 months of intense physical therapy and rehab Utah's finest, Mike Aitken, is back on his bike. Mike suffered some severe head trauma last year while riding some trails in PA where he over rotated a 360 and landed on his head. So a few weeks ago I went to The Canyons in Utah for the Giant 2009 model preview/dealer pep rally. Needless to say the weather was amazing (90 degrees, 20% humidity), the scenery was beautiful, and an excellent time was had. I got to ride mountain bike trails at 7000 feet, it's very interesting when your legs are not burning, but you can barely breath. I saw some of Giant's best work to date.

The FATS (Forks Area Trail System) has been awarded the coveted Epic status by IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association). FATS is the first trail from South Carolina to receive acknowledgement of this magnitude.
